Rosemary Zamecnik of Garden Gate Designs

Red Poppy Jasper Pendant Necklace by Rosemary Zamecnik

Jewelry Artist & Designer

Rosemary Zamecnik is a retired Grandmother of three wonderful grandchildren who enjoys reading, creating jewelry, and blogging.  Another passion is gardening – Rosemary founded the Nordonia Hills Garden Club over twelve years ago, and it remains a flourishing club with over 80 members (and still growing).

I love the feeling of “less is more” in a design and combining colors that compliment each other.  I enjoy designing beautiful jewelry for others to wear, and occasionally my daughter-in-laws receive a new piece of jewelry that I have created.

Garden Gate Designs opened almost 13 years ago. It started with a vacation in the Outer Banks and looking for a little something to bring home for herself in the way of jewelry. When Rosemary could not find what she wanted, she took a few classes at her local Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Store, and the rest is history.  The rich colors of gemstones are prominent in Rosemary’s designs,  as well as chain.   She uses only the best products in her designs, such as Via Merino Snap Eeze Jump Rings for added strength. Garden Gate Designs jewelry has been sold on Etsy and Ebay, and Rosemary opened her Artfire Shop this year.

Encouraging Children To Be Creative

My oldest grandaughter Bryce is 12 years old now and she has been beading with me since she was 5 starting with stretch bracelets. When she was 10 years old, I gave her a starter set of jewelry making tools. She and I go to bead shows together.  This year, her creations became saleable, and I made a section in my Artfire Shop called “Boo’s Baubles”. She is my crafty grandchild and I have always encouraged her to try new things. She amazes me daily!  I took her to sewing classes last summer, and the dress she made was so beautiful and well put together that her Mom wore it to work and out to dinner (she has her own Singer Curvy Machine).

Bryce is a girl scout and next week I have been asked to put on a jewelry making program for some of the girl scouts in her troop. We will be making memory wire bracelets with charms added. Bryce will be my assistant and she will earn a badge for her part. Children are so creative and I really enjoy being around them and encouraging them to create!
