Sharing Your Images
Flickr can be a wonderful source of inspiration to artists, designers and crafters. Not only can you browse images by category, but many Flickr users allow others to use their images under the Creative Commons license (the above images are used under this license). When you upload your images to Flickr and choose the Creative Commons license, you are permitting the use of them in commercial purposes, as long as credit is given to you. (This is a simplified explanation – for more information, please Explore Creative Commons on Flickr.)
Awesome Flickr Gallery Plugin
A few weeks ago I created a few galleries while browsing through images on Flickr, and thought it would be great if I could find a way to easily share them in blog posts. I discovered the Awesome Flickr Gallery WordPress Plugin (thank you, Google) and in about ten minutes I was able to get my API code and create the display above! (It should take even less time in the future, now that I am more familiar with it.)
The AFG plugin walks you through how to obtain your Flickr API code and username, is relatively simple to use, and has several styling options available (but not so many that you are overwhelmed). I haven’t played around with it very much yet, but I’m very happy with the gallery display above and look forward to exploring all the options!
Visit The Artists
I created the gallery above while looking for design inspiration for my stoneware clay pendants and jewelry. I was thrilled to find so many creative and talented people sharing images of their artwork! Clicking on one of the images above will open it in a lightbox and start a slideshow. Click on the linked name underneath, and it will take you to the artist’s photostream on Flickr! Enjoy!
